Digital Miscellanies Index

The Digital Miscellanies Index provides a searchable record of the contents of more than 1,750 poetic miscellanies published between 1557 and 1800. It features detailed records for these miscellanies, as well as records for the poems and people featured in them.

To start your search, type a word or phrase into the search field above, or filter the records using the options on the left. Advanced search options are also available.

About the Project

The development of the Digital Miscellanies Index is funded by The Leverhulme Trust. The database was created by a team of researchers and developers at the University of Oxford, led by Abigail Williams and Jennifer Batt. In 2013 the Index was launched in beta, with a search interface built by Joe Gollner, Shirin Ahmadzadeh-Shad, Amir Ghavam, Kelsey Nelson, and Ian Skeaff at Gnostyx Research Inc. The redeveloped website is the product of the second phase of the miscellanies project, led by Abigail Williams and Carly Watson. The website was developed by Bodleian Digital Library Systems and Services and is hosted by the Bodleian..
